This tie car is based on the prototype used by Southern and Central of Georgia.   These cars were built by Spencer Shops for MOW service in the early 1950's to the 1960's. The car is adapted from 40' flatcars and are fitted with welded steel sides approximately 6' high.  The ties were unloaded using a machine that rode in the railcar on rails and was able to move from car to car using removable rail sections.  These cars were phased out in the mid 90's, being replaced with the more modern M-271 tie gondola.

HO undecorated 3D resin printed kit.

~Deluxe kit comes with the following 3D printed parts: car body, removable tie load, wheels, dummy couplers, coupler box covers, air hoses, and end of train device. Also included are 2#-56x1/8" screws for coupler covers and 2#-56x1/4" screws for trucks.

~Basic kit comes with the following 3D printed parts: car body and coupler covers.

Holes for screws in coupler box, coupler cover, and truck mount will be drilled and tapped for proper screw attachment.  Do not overtighten screws to prevent damaging the model.

Resin printing is not perfect as with injection molding.  Therefore, minor imperfections could occur along with slight bowing depending on design.  Applying heat will allow the model to be reshaped in the event any parts need to be straightened.

Although resin printed dummy couplers, trucks, and wheels are included to get you rolling, we recommend changing to metal couplers, wheels and trucks for optimal performance.  We suggest using 50-Ton Bettendorf trucks or 70-ton rolling bearing trucks with 33" metal wheels.
